iesika: (Kings Among Runaways)
[personal profile] iesika
Series Title: Kings Among Runaways
Summary: The AU where Tim ran away from home at the tender age of mumbledyteen, and Jason got let off with a warning, the night he met Batman.
Warnings: Overall: Sexual content including minors, both disturbing and hopefully not, explicit violence.
Note: This series started as a piece of a fic called Five Tims That Weren't, and grew from there. I picked up [livejournal.com profile] kirax2 along the way, and now we're partners in crime.

The series is currently unfinished, but we're finally to a point where it's mostly coming out in order. These are the finished stories.

The series title and several of the story titles come from On The Bus Mall by The Decemberists, which is a lovely little song off Picaresque about two teenaged prostitutes. Kings in Disguise is the title of an excellent graphic novel about a boy riding the rails across depression era America.

Gods, that was /awesome/. I've only recently picked up DC as a fandom, but I've been glutting myself on fic since then, and this absolutely stands above and beyond the vast majority of stuff I've read. I love everyone's voices, and the pacing was awesome, and I held my breathe through half the scenes. :D

I'm glad you liked it so much! Kira and I are more than a little in love with the verse ourselves - that's the fun thing about collaborating - you only have to write half of the stories, and for the rest you get to madly fangirl.

There's so much excellent fic in this fandom, especially considering how small the group seems to be. We're so glad to have you join us! <3

We're not done with this verse, by the way. We've both got partially finished pieces in reserve, and several things planned for the future.

I don't think I've actually commented on this before, but I love love love love LOVE this story. This is a fantastic little AU world you've created. It is beautiful and wonderful and lots of other good adjectives. I love the characterization of well, everyone actually, but the Batfamily especially, and the epic!fail that is Jay and Tim figuring out their relationship. I really enjoyed the glimpse of the other heroes at the party (lololol green octopus in the pool)... which I probably shouldn't have mentioned because now I want to list all my favorite parts, but that would involve pretty much typing your whole story back at you, and since, as the authors, I'm pretty sure you already know how it goes, I don't think I will bother.

...The smut is pretty fantastic, too. >:D

I'mma have to bookmark this so I can come back to it again and again and read the new bits as they come out. I hope you two will keep this going for a good long while. <3

...Oh, and three cheers for using On The Bus Mall. One of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite band, and every time I read this I get it stuck in my head. ^_^

I'm so glad you like the series so much! ^____^ I'm always thrilled when I hear back from readers, especially from this fic, as it's such a labor of love. [livejournal.com profile] kirax2 and I have so much fun writing it!

We've got plans for this to continue *quite* a long way. I think we're taking a sort of hiatus at the moment to work on other things - we hadn't really decreed that officially, but it seems to be the case. Such plans we have, though. Such plans *cackles*.

It was On The Bus Mall that first put the image into my head. It's very evocative, like a lot of their music.

Thank you! ^____^ We are planning to write more. This was a nice stopping point, to let us work on other things for a while, but we do intend to come back to it, and we've got plans for the boys' futures.

This series is incredible! I absolutely adore it, and have guilty read it quite a few times over >> I love the characterisation of both Tim and Jason, and their gradual build up to a relationship. AND it has all of the realistic fears and insecurities ;___; I love it SO much. Please write more at some point in time!! I'll keep checking :D And I love how linked it is to On the Bus Mall; definitely a Decemberist favourite.

Thank you for such an amazing AU :)
