Wacky HP theory/observation

I've been listening to the HP books on tape to refresh myself before the seventh book, and I'm about half-way through HBP. I'm at work right now, but I've been listening while I type up invoices, and something has just struck me - something that I remember thinking after finishing the book the first time. See, I'm at that wonderful scene where Dobby and Kreacher are trying to pull each other's ears off, and Harry orders them both to follow Malfoy - and I remembered that Harry never tells them to STOP. It's the kind of thing JKR overlooks in her own books, sometimes, so I'm not really expecting it to be important, but you all know the way my mind works. I probably don't even need to tell you that in my mental 7th book, Dobby shows up as soon as Harry is next alone (at the Dursleys', probably) and tells him exactly where Malfoy is hiding out and what he is up to.

And while we're talking about Dobby and wacky theories, don't you think he'd be the PERFECT secret keeper, for, well, anything? Harry or Dumbledore could tell him anything, and there's no way the death eaters would ever even entertain the possibility - could be an interesting story premise, too, if he were interrogated by one of the Malfoys. In my personal, mental version of HP, Dobby and Winky move into Grimmauld place and have it sparkly-clean in no time. I think the shock of the filth of the place would snap Winky out of her funk.

Anyway, before the final book comes out, I want to say, I predict:

 - RAB = Regulus Alphard Black = (possibly) the "faked death" JKR mentioned = (crazy-theory) Stubby Boardman (there are a few good fics with this premise)
 - Peter will save/not kill Harry and be killed by Voldemort for it.
 - Hermione and Ron will wind up together by the end of the book, probably near the end.
 - Ginny will wait dutifully for Harry and will probably provide some sort of help in the Horcrux quest (whether she intends it or not)
 - Snape only intended to swear that he'd watch over Draco, and was backed into a corner when Narcissa asked him to carry out Draco's orders. I'm not sure whether he and Dumbledore discussed the fact that Snape was going to have to kill Dumbledore, but I think it likely. I don't think they figured out a way around it. I don't think there are bottled pensieve memories left somewhere, but if there are, they will not be found until after Snape is dead. Cuz, yeah, Snape is done for.
 - The single representatives of the "dangerous" or "inferior" magical species that we have met (Grawp, Firenze, Dobby, Remus, maybe even Norbert, etc) will continue to be important (with the exception of Sanguini, who I believe was comic relief). Also, there will be Goblins, and they will kick ass and take names.

I would like to see:

 - Harry offer Draco a place to hide, because Dumbledore wanted it. (which I think is possible)
 - Grayback show up at Bill and Fleur's wedding to finish the job, only to have Fleur hit him with a spell Molly taught her for gutting fish or carving turkeys or something domestic like that. (which is less likely, but also possible)
 - Hermione and Ron only hook up after she kisses Harry, either to make Ron mad or just because she's frustrated and confused and cares about them both. (also somewhat possible)
 - Ginny not waiting dutifully for Harry, and thus the end of the series without The Hero getting  The Girl. This is not the slasher in me - I am just perverse and love unexpected endings. (not very likely)
 - Harry being the last Horcrux (extremely unlikely)
 - Harry make a public statement/ interview about Stan Shunpike and similar,
 - Harry make a public statement/ interview about how stupid anti-werewolf/goblin/giant laws are. Ideally this leads to the werewolves falling in with the Order, or at least staying out of things.
 - Zack  Smith having something to do with the Cup. (Smith may be a common name, but old Jewish names are not so common)
 - Dumbledore had a family, but Grindelwald killed them, and that is what he relived when Harry forced him to drink the potion.

Crazy-mad theory I really don't expect to be true but I would be soooo pleased if it is:

Tonks polyjuiced.

No, really. She's changed, she can't metamorphize, her Patronus is different (and a shape that would make sense for Peter - or Sirius -  but not anyone else), she looks freaked when Snape mentions her new Patronus in front of Harry (which I think he did to tip him off), and most tellingly, she won't make eye contact with Dumbledore. Ideally, she is Peter, who is trying to keep an eye on Lupin. This is ideal not just because the Patronus fits, but because I really like Peter/Remus, particularly unrequited, and Tonks-in-Love-with-Remus being Peter would be just my cup of tea.



I want to hear y'all's crazy theories, too. Please?

I agree with the thing about Ginny. I think she'll follow Harry to Hell and back and in the end, he'll scold, but he'll be immensely glad she didn't do what he said.

Hermione and Ron together! Definitely. No other way I'd have it.
(Though I have a sneaking suspicion that since she likes to pile angst on poor Harry, she might have plotted something devious- like dying to save Harry - for either or both of them. Scary thought, but it has gone through my mind a time or two.)

As for Harry being a horcrux, she's said herself that a person can't be one...and we've discussed what I think about the whole Snape/ Dumbledore deal...

But for those who haven't heard what I think yet: Being that the Headmaster was the only true father figure that Snape ever had, he trusted Dumbledore. Dumbledore must have surmised (because he's just good like that) that old Voldything had some plans for the son of the Death Eater closest to him that had screwed up the most. (Aka Lucius)So he must have figured that Voldy would stoop low enough to using a kid like Draco to attempt to kill him. And, I think after Snape made the Vow with Narcissa, he told Dumbledore. Something like that is too big to keep to yourself, especially when you know both sides. There aren't many variable that way. So I think that Dumbledore (wanting as he so did to save as many people as possible, including but not limited to his students and staff), told Snape that when the moment came to fruition as he suspected, that Snape was to save himself and Draco by keeping the Vow he made.

*whew* So that, in a nutshell is my ideas on that. I know that somewhere Snape has a heart...and a conscience. They both might be fucked up, but they're there. So I won't give up on him just yet.

And all that about Dobby...Totally agree with that,lol. He'd gather up Winky (and since Harry probably would forget to offer to pay them because of Winky) and they'd zoom off to Grimmauld Place and clean that bastard up! And since Winky would think she has a proper master , she'd get off the Butterbeer, lol ^__^

In fact, I've written a fic before that had Dob and Wink working for Harry before, but he was in his own flat. *shrug* Either way I think it'd be cool.

But other than that, I don't have anything more to worry about. JKR's already said that Wormtail's hand will not be dangerous to Moony, so I'm good. No more worries..except for the safety of my favorite characters...*giggle* But I think that's normal.

On a tamer note, Losers Like Us has my favorite Winky of all time.

Oh, and in response to "Hermione and Ron together! Definitely. No other way I'd have it." - This is one of the only Het pairings I will read for this series (if I'm fond of the author or have it on good rec, mostly) though I prefer my Ron/Hermione with a liberal dose of Harry thrown in the middle, even if just for UST. If Harry doesn't at least check Hermione out, once, before the end of the series, I will be displeased.

It's kinda funny; for all that I enjoy reading Harry Potter books when they come out, I end up feeling the same during discussions of them as I do when my husband points out exactly what three seconds of film the latest Star Wars action figure appeared in from the original trilogy. Doesn't mean I'm looking forward any less to reading the last book this weekend, just that I'm fascinated by how much more is there to these stories than I can retain.

(In all fairness, I can still do the equivalent with Greek mythology and to some extent Star Trek, so I don't think it's a bad thing. Just a geek thing, and I love geeks. ^_~)

I don't have any particular weird theories for book 7, but on the list of what I'd like to see is some kind of resolution for Neville. I've enjoyed watching the parallels between him and Harry develop (as well as see where they split apart), and I'd love it if his own situation somehow figured into the ultimate resolution of Voldemort. Probably a long shot, but I can hope.

I agree. Neville has become teh awesome. ^__^ Not only that, but the kid who plays him is getting uber cute,lol.

But yes, back to the topic. I'd love to see Nev get his cajones in order. ^_^

The problem with this is that JK has said herself that Neville will not play an important role in the downfall of Voldemort, which I hate. He's such a fantastic character - He's so sweet as the stuttering bumbler, and we tend to forget that he tried to take on Crabbe and Goyle when he was 11, without being asked - just shrugged and jumped over the seats because Ron and Malfoy were fighting (my favorite Neville Moment, though Snape-In-A-Dress is a close second).

I'd like to at least see Neville take out one or more of the Death Eaters who attacked his parents.

My favorite quirky Neville theory: Has it occured to anyone else that maybe Neville is scared of Snape because of the way he moves and dresses, as much as the way he acts? I would not be surprised at all to learn Neville had seen what happened to his parents. Nor, in a way, would I be terribly surprised to find out Snape had been there, especially if he'd shown up at the end with more of the Order, trying to help, and ended up accidentally terrifying poor traumatized little Neville.

*nods* I could see that. But I think it mainly stems from something Professor McGonagall told him about his only problem being that he doesn't believe in himself enough. Snape realizes this and expounds upon it. Alot.

Not cause he's too evil, just cause he's a jerk. XD Anybody'd be scared of a jerk that big. ^__^

I don't think he's completely evil. Just, you know. Kind of. He's definitely not the schmoop that a lot of Snape/Harry fics make him out to be. He's mean and cruel and irascible, spiteful, hateful even. He dedicates most of his daily life to making children cry. And he's Lord Thingy's right hand, which means he isn't just going through the motions as a Death Eater - he's doing it for real.

Actually, I mostly think he's a maladjusted schizoid. So I can sympathize. Heh.
