Catching up (comic book stuff)

...The DCU has gotten... Um. I knew, via internets, that Kon-el (Superboy) was dead and Tim (Robin) redesigned his costume in tribute. I did not know Tim had built him a semi-creepy memorial and was trying to raise him from the freakin dead. And...I can't find the Robin trade paperback from just before War Games (or War Games, for that matter), so I'm only spoiled and haven't actually read the comics about Tim's dad blackmailing Bruce and threatening to shoot him in the head if he didn't stay the fuck away from his son, and the students at Tim's school who died as a result of his not being Robin. But I did read what followed immediately after...When Tim's dad was murdered while Tim was on the radio with him, trying to get back home to protect him. Wow.

Tim was always a little... Um. Probably pretty disturbed. Superboy always called him a little freaky. But... Yeah. Tim is a mess now, and I love him. And I can't find the comics I want and I have no money *cries*

In other news, I also did not know that Dick had fucking PROPOSED. To Babs. Who said no. *whimper*

She didn't think he was...erm. Emotionally ready. He was kind of a mess. Donna Troy (Troia, and the original Wonder Girl, who was like a sister to Dick) died, and Dick disbanded both the Titans and Young Justice. (Titans reformed behind his back, with Tim instead). All his out-of-costume friends had just been murdered, and Haly's circus had just been burned to the ground (even the elephants were killed), and then happened War Games (in which a huge gang war broke out in Gotham, Tim's girlfriend (the Spoiler and temporarily the 4th Robin) was tortured to death, and Dick was shot by a cop and nearly killed, which meant he wasn't there when the clocktower was invaded and she was trapped in a burning building), Identity Crisis (in which someone was bumping off the friends and family of heroes, including Tim's dad, and everyone had multiple flashbacks to Babs getting shot), and ultimately Infinite Crisis (in which 100,000 people were killed in Bludhaven and Dick was responsible for bringing Superboy (Tim's best friend) to the Fortress of Solitude, because he needed backup, and Superboy died there saving the world.) Also, he's fucking Starfire again. And he was at least casually trying to get with the new Batwoman - only he's totally barking up the wrong tree, there, because she's in love with RENEE FREAKING MONTOYA *cheers* (Though I wanted Renee to hook up with Maggie Sawyer)

(There are abruptly a lot of lesbians in the DCU. Hot lesbians with attitude. You would like. Check out 52 if you want to see Renee booze and fuck herself across three continents and become a proper masked vigilante (she became heir to The Question, the old Charlton Comics detective-style hero that Rorschach was based on, for The Watchmen. I am in love with Renee. I was in love with Renee back when she was a detective under Jim Gordon. Probably, though, Grace Choi of The Outsiders would be your favorite) <=I'll be posting about all the lovely lesbians later
