I left the apartment for twenty minutes. When I got back, my roommate's dogs had gotten into my backpack, which was on a table, and eaten my rent.

They hadn't had time to finish it off - but a hundred dollar bill and a twenty dollar bill are missing from the sodden pile I found on the floor.

THEY ATE MY RENT.

I don't even know how to *deal* with that. They are so lucky the worse thing I'll ever do to a dog is smack it on the nose. SO LUCKY.

Oh no, that's terrible. *hugs* I think you need to have a serious talk with your roommate about the behavior of those dogs. That really should never have happened. I hope you can get things sorted out.

We had someone come in the other day whose puppy had eaten a library book.

Your roommate owes you that money - I hope she pays up. That dog needs some supervision and training.

They're on poop-identification duty, though I'll probably be the one doing the restoration, if applicable. As kirax2 reminded me, mutilated bills are redeemable for fresh ones.

It's not normally an issue! They're good dogs most of the time. I think they just really like envelope glue, actually, because the last thing they destroyed was the paper slip I'd put a dvd in (a home burned one, with the original still on my computer, so it wasn't a big deal - and actually the disk seems to be mostly intact, though I haven't tested it yet).

I've had a dog do that - ate a Nepalese cookbook I got from my library. Since she's never touched any other book, I can only assume someone had spilled something yummy-smelling on one of the pages.

This is, while not a *completely* isolated incident, not part of a trend or anything. I'm more shocked than anything. I leave my bag on that table every day and they've never bothered it. They're actually pretty well trained.

My cat chews straps: thong straps, tank-top straps, bra straps, backpack straps, anything strappy -- chews them until they break if I don't get to the item he's focused his attention on beforehand. I've lost countless items of clothing this way.

Like...woooah, really, ate your rent?? Damn baby, your roomate's gotta cough up $120 like real soon. Have you tried keeping citrus smelling stuff in your backpack, I know it keeps kitties away with it's strong scent so it might work as a diversion on doggies too.

This happened to my uncle. He left his wallet on his bed and when he came back he found one of his dogs chopping on the leather and bills all about. It sucks. I hope you get reimbursed.
