Holy SHIT, you guys

On the phone, tonight:

Dad: I need to tell you something. Are you sitting down? I have to preface this by saying she's okay, everyone's home safe.
Me : OMG WHO WHAT HAPPENED TELL ME NOW!
Dad: I took Macie to the hunting camp today -

Wait. Stop. Because every time my dad has ever taken my poor dog to his hunting camp something horrible has happened to her. Snakebites, infections, concussions, ATV accidents. And every time we forbid him to take her there again and he never listens.

Dad: - and an alligator attacked her, but I managed to fight it off and get her back to the truck for first aid, and rushed her to the vet hospital and the wounds have been sutured and she's sedated for the pain but she's home and going to be okay.
Me: !!!
Dad: Your sister thought I should call you.

Okay, I know I joke about the alligators in the backyard, but that's really only been once or twice! (even if I did threaten to feed Caer to one for writing me into Jane Austen, that time). Ce n'est pas tout bon, y'all!

Wow. Poor puppy. I'm surprised she isn't terrified to get into the car with him. What part of "don't take the dog to your hunting camp" does he not understand? Hope she feels better soon.

^_^ I totally forgot about that. Though I think I did archive that one somewhere. I should try to find it on yahoogroups.

Macie knows no fear (of things that could actually hurt her, anyway - she's terrified of, like, mounted fish and other random things). She loves going to the vet, even, right up until it's time to go in the back.

He understands NOW. He actually feels really terrible, and I'm inclined to go easy on him since he jumped into the water with an alligator to rescue her. He really adores her (and the feeling is mutual).

I don't think I've managed to find it. I went back a while ago and dug through old ML archives looking for things I hadn't backed up, and I didn't see that.
