Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairings: Snape/Potter, Lupin/Potter
Summary: Snape should know better than to form a working hypothesis without proper observation.
Warnings: This story will contain sexual scenes and depictions of gore and animal cruelty, though not at the same time. This is a work in progress.
I frequently write little bits of stories in my class notebooks and on pieces of scrap paper, and then never look at them again. This story started as one of those bits. I found a piece of folded typing paper while cleaning my car, and it held what would become the opening chapter of this story. The only problem was, it ended rather abruptly, and I had no idea what I’d intended to follow from that point.
I tossed the snippit around a bit, posted it on my livejournal as “The Mystery Potion Thing,” and finally remembered what I’d intended. And I liked it. I couldn’t think of why I hadn’t written more of it. What’s more, I was in the middle of reading a most excellent book, The Elements of Murder, by John Emsley, which had me in an alchemical frame of mind. So, I wrote more. At the time of this writing, I’m a few chapters in and really liking how it’s going. I’m setting myself the modest goal of a chapter every week, until I start fall classes, at least.
