Oh God, that's so beautiful. Even if I am still on Day 4.

Here, have a sample:

Bart could draw really, really well - and really fast, of course - and Tim could pop out these mathematically precise diagrams and schematics and things in no time, and draw people from descriptions, and even Cassie drew these cute little cartoon things sometimes when she was bored in meetings. All his friends could draw, and they all liked to draw, and until he'd seen what his fellow high school art students had to offer, he'd kind of been wondering about the missing programming thing again, or if his giant freaky hands were just too huge and clumsy to actually make anything but bruises.

I love that! Poor Kon, he's just not very good at art. I bet Jake is good at art. Is Jake good at art?

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Jake is excellent at art.

I have a rational for Kon's lack of art skillz that is all about his lack of experience with finger-paint, coloring books, and sidewalk chalk.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course he is! I knew it.

D'aww that's so true! Poor Kon, he missed out on so much. I just want to spend an entire fic of Bart, Kon and Tim discussing all the childhood things that Bart and Kon missed, with Tim possibly taking them out to do all those things. Oh he could take them to the circus! It would be dramalicious.

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I kind of imagine Bart as having had a better childhood than Tim, though. Impulse had a great father figure, plenty of time, and absolutely no reservations about looking or acting ridiculous. You KNOW he totally finger-painted.

Tim got to do normal kid-things like go to the circus, but look how that turned out for him.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm maybe.

Timmy had an okay childhood, his parents were just a bit absent.

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
'Just a bit absent' can sometimes be worse than trauma. I'm not saying his childhood was worse than, say Steph's - just that I don't think it was a healthy one. If his parents had been more perceptive he'd have been in therapy and I think I might end up writing a fic about that actually. ^_^;

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
But isn't a lot of this fanon? We don't really know how Tim's mother was, she could have been great and Timmy was just crazy all along.

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's possible. But I think if Tim's mom was great, she'd have told Jack their son needed therapy.

But don't get me wrong - I assume that Timmy was crazy all along - that's the major reason I think his childhood wasn't normal.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
But just because she was a good mum doesn't mean she's incredibly aware. My parents know fuck all about my issues but that doesn't make them bad, and it doesn't ruin my childhood. Although Tim is crazier than I am.

That was just because he was crazy obsessed with Dick though! *snerk* Pun totally intended.

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's terrible, Justine. Truely terrible. I may have to marry you.

Unless there's something you haven't told me, I don't think you were sneaking into worst neighborhoods in the the most dangerous city in the country every night and taking pictures which you then (presumably) developed yourself (I really can't imagine Tim taking those photos to the 1 hour photo place). Cameras, film, darkroom equipment, reactive photo paper and developing chemicals cost a TON (I'm kind of a photo-nut myself). His parents had to be aware they had a budding photographer on their hands, and were probably paying for most of his supplies. You think they'd have been more interested in what he was doing with his time.

I'm pretty sure it's canon that they traveled a lot and usually left him in boarding schools. Tim fights with his dad about it a little, before his second trip to Paris, if I recall. I don't have the comics handy, though.

This is true, Tim sneaking around after vigilants is a bit past being a little bit crazy.

I can't even remember what we were arguing about! *goes back to read comments* oh right, Timmy having a shit childhood. But to me, all the stalking vigilante stuff came when Tim was a bit older. I'm thinking childhood like, 3-10, what was Timmy up to then? Surely he was too young to leave at a boarding school (I know nothing about boarding schools) so maybe he travelled with his parents? I don't even know.

See, I'm a fan of Tim-had-a-shit-home-life, but personally I think that starts when he's a teenager, aside from being a bit absent during his early years, I like to think his parents, especially his mom, were pretty good to him.

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the stalking started at 9 right? And he was obsessed before that, or he wouldn't have made the connections.

Eventually I will write the story where Tim's parents do send him to therapy, possibly on the recommendation of a teacher, when he's very little (because the circus was traumatic but Tim really oulght to stop having such awful nightmares about it after two years or so), and Tim eventually figures out what he needs to do and say to not have to go anymore. Maybe his therapist leaves to have a baby, and he convinces his parents he doesn't need a new one. (I managed to do it twice, as a small child and then at 11 - the issues didn't go away, but I convinced everyone they had. If I could do it, Wee Crazy Timmy could do it.

I've been sort of planning my own Tiny Timfinify, like maybe a 5 Tims That Weren't - Blue Beetle Tim, for example, and of course my favorite...The Tim Who Kills Everybody.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow 9? I always thought it started at 11/12, but that's my lack of knowledge shownig through.

I would read the hell out of that story, and it really wouldn't surprise me. And augh it would kind of echo how Tommy/Hush was sent to therapy and learnt what to say in order to make people happy. (I image that Wee Crazy Timmy is probably more skilled than you when it comes to fooling peoples)

Your favorite Timmy is the one that kills everybody? WHAT?

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
They keep changing continuity on us. Dick was 8, 10, 12 when his parents died, and Tim was 3, 6, 7, at the time...but I think they've been pretty conisistant that he was 9 when he put it all together.

My favorite Timmy That Wasn't is the Timmy That Kills Everybody.

Which I may be writing now.

Goddamnit.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh continuity, never change.

No. Really. Don't. I'm fucking confused.

Ooooh, why does Timmy kill everyone? Does he become Robin and then goes crazy? Or does he never become Robin?

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I was halfway done and lost my work when the computer I was on shut down. >.<

If I recover, you will find out why he Killed Everyone in approximately 12-13 hours.

D:

Does that 12-13 hours mean you are going to bed?

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's when I'll be able to type more than 188 characters at a time. I'm trying to reconstruct on paper. But bed soon, yeah, since I have work in nine hours.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ah playstation, right.

Aww, I haven't even started baking the brownies yet!

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be back before you sleep, and I'll be able to chat some.

[identity profile] faile-neume.livejournal.com 2009-09-30 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'll tell you all about my brownie exploits then.

Goodnight <3

[identity profile] greyandgold.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I can't wait!

[identity profile] iesika.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
ME EITHER!

If this wasn't for [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang I'd be posting it in chapters, but I'm not allowed to post it anywhere until December 6th. It's kind of killing me, but probably a good thing in the long run because the story is so complicated. I can go back and edit things and add foreshadowing and stuff, which is normally a problem with post-as-you-write.
