Let's just say...

Let's say, hypothetically, that I were embarking on a new project for the new year.

Let''s also say this hypothetical project might look something like this, but a bit...broader in scope.

So, keeping in mind that this is entirely hypothetical...

If someone were to put together a giant index (not a rec list) of DC fanfiction, what tags would be most helpful for helping you find stories you a) might like to read,  b) have read before and would like to read again?

Lets say this hypothetical list is already tagged by major characters, pairing or threesome, pairing type (m/f, f/f/f, gen etc), cliche/themes (sex pollen, genderswap, self/self, etc), and that I'm hoping to split it up by rating and length as well, probably with three categories of each (short, medium, long, and gen, mild, adult).

Any suggestions? And...any volunteers? This is going to take me a while. ^_^;

You know about [livejournal.com profile] dcfic_index, right? Because it's the same sort of idea, and would be a GREAT place to start, it's just that no one seems to update it anymore.

But your tags sound great! I always search by pairing first, because that's usually dependent on what kind of mood I'm in, and then rating second. I like the idea of splitting it up by length too, because sometimes you just want to read something LONG, and it can be hard to find that.

And I volunteer to help! It's sounds like a great project. :D

I do know about dcfic_index, but I've read everything on it I want to, and I find it hard to locate things I've read, since LJ memories are so hard to organize. I intend to go through dcfic_index and collect and classify all those, and then dig through the monitor_duty backposts. That's what I did to make my threesome list (which will be integrated into the new list rather than remaining separate).

Then I'll start filling in holes I notice, and I'll be indexing everything I read as I read it.

I've got two volunteers to help, so far.

I figured that you had probably seen it! I think it was a good idea in theory to try to index everything in one community, but I agree that LJ memories are a huge pain to deal with.

Delicious is just so much easier to use. And it would be wonderful to have an updated archive.
