I like your take on Cassie, here. I think she's hearing the story as about other people at a remove, a superhero hearing about a minor tragedy. Kon's feeling it on a more visceral level.
Several people haven't liked my Cassie so far, so I'm glad somebody does, lol.
I find that Cassie, in the books, has a pretty inconsistant characterization. I mean, I get that she's growing and changing, and that losing Kon and all the other shit that happened when DC decided it hated me really affected her, but even still there's these inconsistancies. Sometimes she's more likeable than other times, for me (I expect I'll always love Donna best). So thank you for giving her characterization I can understand, even for just the little while we see her in this fic.
I anticipate that in the sequel yay we'll be seeing her again, not least when she sees that article Lois wrote!
