He's screaming when Bruce finally gets to him, body crumpled around the jagged wound. Where there should be an arm, there's a stump. And where there should be Robin, there's just a scared kid in bright fucking tights. The cape is soaking up the red, and the pool around him that should be gold has been stained crimson. It stretches around him like a red ocean, and the kid just whimpers when Bruce lifts him out of it.
How bad is it?
It's bad. God. It's bad.
Bruce pushes back the kid's hair. Tim is arching, chest heaving with sobs as his body jerks, spasms -- Bruce knows he's too late.
"I-I'm suh-sorry." He manages it around a mouthful of blood before Bruce presses him to his chest. Bruce can barely understand him, can barely -- can barely look at him.
"Its not. Its not your fault." He should have been here. He should have been here to protect him. And somehow.
Somehow, sorry isn't enough. So Bruce just sits in silence, as another Robin dies in his arms.
